I had no idea when I entered the tourney that ppl were so serious about it, lol. Does it matter if you used a nameflip? You can always think of 3 bars with a weeks notice.. Good shit in the rhyme cypher btw. Hopefully it will start moving again soon. I don't want to clog the system in there, but it's hard not to when nobody's writing, lol.

3 bars in a week isn't easy for everyone, people who post regularly in the cyphers are generally people capable of writing quickly & have that writer's instinct where it just comes to you, especially so when it has to follow the last person's post or you get beat to the drop by someone else.
I always thought needing a week to drop a couple lines seemed bonkers but some people really need it, either due to shit going on in life or maybe writing is less natural to them. Fair play if they can work on a bar for that long though that's dedication lol

Recycling your own stuff and slightly changing it is ok, I'm a repeat offender myself, it's only detrimental if whoever's judging already knows it as it obviously reduces the impact. Plus nameflips aren't essential to use in a battle they're just a useful tool to create an angle or wordplay which applies to the opponent.

Lol jk. cypher is the only way to elevate as an emcee. both verbal & text. i might hop in myself to keep it from being stagnant.

i’ve been kind of antagonistic toward the 3 bars a week concept & even the 1-2 a week cuz i write very fast & the leagues i used to compete in had mandatory 8 bar drops weekly unless participants agreed on shorter drops. so it’s been bothering me that people are no-showing or needing extensions for relatively short verses/ a single bar. but as i’ve been here, i can understand the need for shorter drops. most of us are older, have kids, jobs, family or health issues so dedicating time to something like writing rhymes for a rap forum doesn’t really seem all that important in the grand scheme.

i know i can’t reasonably expect everyone to be like me and whip out the notepad soon as they sit down to shit or eat or drive lmao. so due to that, i’ve been a lot more understanding. especially when i know that people drop fire when they do show up, and the break is sometimes needed.

also, thank yall for the feedback on my verse. i never thought of how much fun it would be to portray a different character in a battle. i got lucky cuz Daredevil is my favorite Marvel character so it was like a gift to fill Foggy’s shoes for a bit. i could get used to themed topics like this, like an entire tournament where you’re writing from the perspective of someone else.

this is how i came up rapping. i’m an audio head turned text. 16 bars was always 16 lines to me. but on a musical scale, one bar is a couplet so i just adopt the common language concerning the definition to avoid confusion.

I just do this stuff for fun. I don't like feeling obligated to research stuff I'm not interested in to win a battle. And tbh I don't actually like the 3 bar format. It's way too little to develop some kind of cohesive thought. And also, I've got other stuff going on right now.. But thanks for believing in me, Jack <33

We decided on 6 lines because 1-2 isn't enough to really do much but if we did 12+ lines we'd be getting even more no shows.
I'm with you that it's hard to really build anything meaningful on a limit like that, I'd love to make it more & give people a chance to really break opponents down but we had to compromise.
I too had to research all but 2 characters from the sidekick round but turned out to be dope. Plus a new topic gives you a shit load of angles & it didn't read like you had a hard time with it, you haven't had a bad performance so far which is impressive considering you joined so recently. Keep at it, there's 7 cash prizes atm & more cyphers planned too.
I didn't want you to drop out at the start cuz you got a lot of potential.
Next 2 rounds are regular battles & the other upcoming concept rounds are less homosexual & don't require niche knowledge.
